Default and derived category
In HRS all data and settings are always based on the default categories single room
and double room.
The full prices (e.g. €100.-) and the booking rules are sent by the Channel Manager only to the two standard categories in HRS.
For the derived room categories, only a difference amount (as a surcharge or discount such as -/+ €50.-) between default category and derived room will be sent.
For example, if the Double Room Standard costs €100 and the derived Comfort Room costs €150, the full value is sent for the Standard category and only the difference is sent for the "Comfort" derivation, so the Channel Manager sends the prices as follows:
Double Room Standard = €100
Double Room Comfort = €50
The following is then calculated in HRS: €100 + €50 = €150 for the Comfort Room
Calculation at the same or lower price starting from
the default category.
Please note, should the price between the default category and a derived room be the same, HRS will still always charge + or - €0.01 here.
If the default price in the Channel Manager is lower than the derived room price - for example, the Comfort Room price - the Channel Manager will automatically communicate the lowest difference, i.e. €0.01.
The calculation of whether a value is calculated as a discount or a surcharge is controlled by HRS, see details below in the table.
Example:
The Double Room Standard costs €100 and the Comfort Room €90, then the Channel Manager - because the difference between Standard and Comfort is negative - sends not €10 but €0.01.
If the Channel Manager would send €10, HRS would sell the comfort room for €110 and not €90. To keep the price error as small as possible, the system sends as follows:
Double Room Standard = €100
Double Room Comfort = €0.01

Pay attention to the selection when creating the rooms:
There is a room category in HRS - the budget room - where the difference is calculated as a minus.
This category can only ever be cheaper than the default category.

Please find information on how to send different occupancy rates to HRS in the following article: Making more occupancy rates bookable on HRS
