General Information:
Two-factor authentication (also: two-step or two-way authentication or 2FA) is an additional security measure used to protect user accounts: Even if your passwords fall into the wrong hands, unauthorized people won't be able to access your accounts.
Using two-factor authentication, your guests' personal data remains protected as best as possible. This is particularly important if you retrieve credit card data through your user account.
All users who wish to retrieve credit card details on the Hotel-Spider extranet must activate 2FA.
Setup & Activation:
Setup takes place in the new Hotel-Spider Extranet in the section 'Settings' -> 'Users'.
- Choose your user account and go to the 'Security' tab. Choose the desired type of authentication:
1. Google Authenticator (=recommended)
Google Authenticator is a free mobile app that can be downloaded and set up on your phone or tablet in a few steps.
- Please download the app in your mobile device's app store
- In Hotel-Spider 'Security' Settings: Click on 'Google Authenticator'
- A box with a QR code will appear
- Scan the QR code using the app on your mobile device
- In the Google Authenticator app, you will now see a 6-digit code under the name "hotel-spider: AWSCognito", which you then enter in the box on the right:
- Click on 'Verify' and the function is successfully activated for your user account:
2. SMS
First make sure that your mobile number is saved in your user profile (format: +411231231234).
Once you choose the SMS method for 2FA security, you will be automatically logged out of the system, receive an SMS and can use it to log in again securely.
3. Deactivate 2 Factor Authentication
Use this status to disable two-factor authentication for your user account. Afterwards, you will no longer have access to credit card data in the reservations.
